Pomanders in Savannah

During the holiday season I love how in our beautiful city of Savannah, the historical homes downtown such as the Davenport House & the Juliette Gordon Low house have decorated in period style for Christmas. The evergreen wreaths, garlands, pomanders & tropical fruit used as décor for the festive season are so elegant.

Pomanders bring to mind another time, much older, dating back to the 1600s when the pilgrims came to America. Pomanders were useful as filtering stinky smells that were common due to lack of cleanliness & sanitation.

Pomanders are a great southern holiday decoration & an organic natural air freshener.

The magnolia wreaths with pomanders would be wonderful for a southern Savannah holiday home.
